Glasnow was part of my new pitching strategy going into the 2018 season. Still considered a prospect at the time he was really just a roll of the dice. Highly rated and threw hard I figured I needed to gamble on him. The trade to Tampa Bay changed everything for him, but his injuries have been frustrating. All offseason I went back and forth on whether I should keep him or trade him for another inspect bat or more reliable pitcher. At least to start I will keep him since when he's healthy he is one of the most productive pitchers. The problem is 120 innings is the most he's thrown in the majors.
Counting on him to be my ace may come back to bite me, but I have to take that chance.
Blake Snell
Acquired: Trade prior to the 2018 season for $15.
Snell was also part of the 2018 change in philosophy to acquire high end pitching. This was more of a gut feel than anything. I followed him as a prospect, but missed out on him. He has also been frustrating, but more so for being inconsistent. Injuries also played a part, which is why hitting is becoming more of my focus. Still unsigned prior to the keeper deadline I also toyed with trading him. Hard to do when his home park is unknown. Counting on production from his is also a gamble and i worry about him being behind in ramping up and
